Google's leaders, like many other CEO's recently, have been warning us that knowledge jobs are going to go to the most capable, independent of geography, for some time. Here we go.

I think that firms like Google and many others may be discounting factors like loyalty, political stability, and economic strength too easily. Time will tell. But meanwhile, true or not, my opinion is certainly not going to change the reality: the top knowledge jobs will go to the most capable. We'd better get busy and be the most capable.

There is a bright side. If we in South Carolina wake up soonest, we can get an edge inside the US. Here's hoping the debate on improving schools shifts focus soon to QUANTIFIABLE, DEMONSTRATED QUALITY OF RESULTS IN SCIENCE AND MATH.
